A Guide to a Western Australia Road Trip

Monday, July 17, 2017

After living in Melbourne for a few months a couple of years ago I didn't think I would have the opportunity to visit this wonderful country anytime soon. But after finding some cheap flights from Singapore to Perth on Skyscanner and with Kate backpacking in Australia at the same time I thought a best friend road trip was definitely in order! My usual travel partner, Kate and I crammed in as much as Western Australia as we could (if you can go for more than 13 days, please do!) but due to time restraints we tried our best, covering roughly 800km a day we saw some incredible sights this wonderful Australian state has to offer. Here are some of our highlights and top tips. If you have any questions just leave a comment below or message me directly.

Sophie and Kate also visited other incredible spots throughout Western Australia, including Kalbarri, Coral Bay, Cape Range National Park, Fremantle, Rottnest Island and Geraldton.  Read the full article at Life with Clarity, otherwise, read on for their adventure to the gorgeous Margaret River wine region!

Margaret River

Margaret River is the foodie and drinks region of WA and it does not disappoint!

There are many different food and wine tours to chose from, we went for Wine for Dudes which was around $100 per person. The tour takes you to the finest winemakers in the area. The tour includes a proper wine tasting masterclass, information on wine in Australia, a chance to blend your own wine and lots and LOTS of wine to try. Oh, you also get discounted prices on most of the wines to buy. The tour also includes a stop at an olive oil shop, chocolatier, a brewery and a gourmet lunch!

Top Tip: Morries Anytime in the center of Margaret River town provided some of the best food I have had in a while, I mean I nearly cried when I had my last mouthful....Amazing atmosphere, fancy cocktails and live jazz on certain nights of the week, bliss.

I had the most amazing time in this untouched haven of natural beauty. Everyone I met told me not to tell anyone of the Western Australis's secret gems - but I can trust you not to tell too many people right 😉 ?

PS To find the cheapest car hire options you can check on Skyscanner, (yea Skyscanner does car hire too!) and always has some great deals.

Thanks for reading, hope you have the chance to get on the road with your best friend soon 🚗
