20 December 11 “Chilled Atmosphere!"

Posted by Daveo_10 from Sydney, Australia

wine for Dudes offers a relaxed, unpretentious and fun approach to wine tasting. We were never made to feel out of our depth and John offered an informative wine tour that not only went into the intricacies of wine and its production, but gave a history of the Mararet River region. The wineries we visited were top notch and set amongst some of the best scenery Margaret river has to offer. Definitely recommend Wine for Dudes to anyone thinking of a wine tour in the area.

15 November 11 “Fantastic Day Out!"

Posted by GeorgeC from Perth, Australia

Having been on only one other tour, which I didn't feel met my expectations, I was quite scpetical of a good day for this tour. It turns out I was pleasantly surprised. The selection of stops on the tour along with the relationship the tour guide had with the people at each stop ensured that not only a good selection of samples was provided, but an interesting amount of information and novelty was included. The lunch provided exceeded expectation as well as the fun of making our own blend of wine. Definately a good day for people to explore and find out more of the Margaret River region.

We had an unforgettable day, John was a perfect host, always available to us and helpful in every way.His choice of music on the ride was always tasteful,we were a mixed croud of ages and interests, so not always easy. I would highly recommend the Wine Dudes.

23 October 11 “Breath of Fresh Air!"

Posted by Brooke from Perth, Australia

It was so nice to go on a wine tour that got down to the main points without all the fluff around the edges. I have been on many wine tours all around the world and although it is good to be educated in depth its a 'breath of fresh air' to have a relaxed day out with John. He was very welcoming and extremely hospitable... The tour was excellent value and great to ease my partner into the whole Cellar Door experience. If you want a chilled tour with a fun atmosphere than Wine fir Dudes is the best out there. John was very flexible and even gave us the option of what winery we wanted to visit last. It was nice to be heard and great to have a chilled weekend without the snobbery.
Thanks to John once again for offering an amazing service for such an affordable price!
20 October 11 “Sooooo Much Fun!!!!!"

John was a great tour guide! He was super friendly and knew what he was doing and talking about. We visited the most amazing wineries + the choc factory of course. Such a laid back, fun, relaxing experience. The best wine tour iv ever been on, will definitely love to do it again! A+ service!!!

20 October 11 “A Grand High Rolling Tour!"

Posted by KimLGraham from Perth, Australia

We booked the High Roller Tour which included lunch at Voyager for 5 couples. We got picked up on time in a nice van and then went to 3 wineries before arriving at Voyager for tastings and lunch. We then finished at Saracen/Duckstein for a final wine taste and a beer. Very enjoyable day and would highly recommend this tour. Thanks John.

18 October 11 “Great Day Dudes!"

Posted by Mydotcom from Brisbane, Australia

Toured with John in September - great day! Really enjoyed the wineries we visited, Saracen and Hayshed Hill, the chocolate and cheese factories and the Duckstein Brewery! Some great deals to be had being on John's tour and lunch was perfect - except I dont drink red!!! I think blending a nice white to have for my lunch would have been a real treat for me.
Thanks John for a great day - you certainly know heaps about the area and its people! Loved the story about the "Chick on a stick"!!!!

15 October 11 “Laid Back Approach to Wine Tasting!"

This was great. Thanks John for a relaxed, entertaining day full of great wines, cheese n chocolate! Highlights being the yummy lunch on picnic rugs, the educational yet laid back approach to wine tasting and the quick look at the surf!

9 October 11 “Great Wine, Great People, Great Tour!"

Posted by Kziaia from Racine, Wisconsin

This was a great tour for the price and it was a fun, laid back experience. There were only 8 people, including the 2 of us, in our group so it was a nice small group to tour with. We actually came out of the experience with some great new friends! John was our tour guide and he was wonderful. Gave us some good commentary, but did not bore us with too much info that we didn't need to hear. Had a fun quiz on the way to the last winery for a prize which was a nice touch. We ended up going to a winery, then an olive oil factory, another winery where we had lunch and did wine blending, the chocolate factory and then our last winery which also had a brewery where we sat out and enjoyed a beer sampler to end the day with. I maybe would have liked to go to another winery instead of the chocolate factory, but that's probably because we had already been to the chocolate factory in Swan Valley which is the same. Overall this was a really fun tour and I would highly recommend it to anyone!

5 October 11 “Best Tour for Wine Lovers Under 35!"

Myself and two of my very good friends went on a "Wine for Dudes Tour" in September. We had a fantastic day. John was a great guy and very imformative both with the history of the region and the wineries we visited. Nothing was to much trouble. I/We would definately recommend giving these guys a call for a fun and relaxing day out.

19 September 11 "Great Day Out!"

This is the second time i've done this tour and again it didnt dissapoint. Great fun day out, very relaxed and bag of laughs.

Both John and ash are great dudes and really know the wine and region well.
Well defiantly be going again.

13 September 11 “Excellent personal attention & great places visited!"

Posted by Ruggers67 from Perth, Australia

This tour was entirely different from others experienced in both Margaret River and Victorian wine country. John the owner/operator was an approachable, friendly and very personal guide. His experience and knowledge of the region assisted in the visits to several unknown and hidden gems in the area.
Swooping Magpies was a favourite of mine and thanks to Neil who made us very welcome. I would highly recommend this tour as we were treated as friends and the Hayshed staff were excellent and knowledgable.

1 September 11 “Awesome Value & a Fun Day Out!"

Had a great time and john knows his stuff. Loved the margaret river and this tour was a highlight. The blending and lunch was cool too.

30 August 11 “A lot of fun & I learnt things too!"

Posted by Bubb_Number1, London, UK

John is a fab tour guide - he is knowledgeable and has a great sense of humour. Having worked in catering / vineries, he truly is a font of knowledge! The staff at the various vineyards were all really polite and helpful - I discovered an appreciation of Shiraz I never had before! Lunch was delicious and having the opportunity to blend my own wine to drink with it was a bonus! :)
If you're looking for a laid back, unpretentious, fun and informative day, go with these guys!

 29 August 11 “Lovely!"

Posted by Lingamn, Kuala Lumpur

reading reviews thru the net, my friend and i picked wine for dudes .I must say i made a good choice since John corresponded with us from the day i had enquired till the day i reached margaret river. He picked us up as promised (from our accomodation) and we started our tour , together with 5 other people.we visited 3 different vinyeards.all different "feels"......the first one was very "cozy family oriented " vineyard, the other a nice vineyard with lunch (that john personally prepared).i must add , that being malaysian and indian, John took the trouble to go an extra mile to make sure the food was "acceptable" ,since we were coming from hindu roots.what was really nice, during lunch we were given the chance of making our own "wine concoction" that would satisfy our taste buds respectively .Lastly, we stopped over at a very "handsome" vineyard , that was "feng shui" inspired.it was beautiful.
we stopped over at a chocolate factory and a cheese factory.we bought lots of stuff, and John doubled up as our " personal" host , who always took the trouble of carrying our loads and keeping our hands free .
all in all, we had a great time.stopovers were tastefully selected plus a very "gentleman-ly " John who made the tour more enjoyable.
Thank you

30 July 11 “Best Wine Experience Ever!"

25 July 11 “Awesome Day, would definitely do it again!"

Posted by Bek_B23, from Perth, Australia

We booked our tour last minute on a recommendation and even though I was sceptical not being a 'dude' it turned out to be a great day! John was friendly and chilled out and full of interesting wine facts. We visited some great winery's and stopped for a delicious lunch. The wine mixing and the quiz at the end of the day were something I hadn't experienced before on a wine tour and really topped the day off. Would definately recommend Wine for Dudes to everyone!

22 July 11 “You're losing money NOT going on this tour!"

Fantastic day out with lots of wine tasting and a deliciously fresh lunch. Value for Money as numerous wines were consumed . The day ended with variety of beers at a picturesque brewery . Big kiwi John is a top tour guide with a laid back attitude which makes the day enjoyable , although I did play a trans-Tasman golf game the next day with him and lost , so to all your Aussies we need redemption and the cup back!!!!!! Cheers big John see ya next year for round 2

14 June 11 “Value for money, good diversity of local wines & attractions, & well informed, easy going tour guides!"

Posted by Jabeki, from Margaret River, Australia

I have been on the Wine for Dudes tour a few times now and would recommend it to anyone who wants to have a really fun day whilst enjoying some quality wine's from the local region. My last tour included a 'make it yourself' wine blending session and lunch at Hayshed Hill, wine tasting at three local wineries, a visit to the cheese factory and chocolate factory finished off by a few cleansing ales at the Colonial brewery.  It was a really fun day and everyone was kept entertained by the hilarious bus driver.

24 May 11 “Awesome!"

Posted by Tim Jackways, Margaret River, Australia

I was a little worried about going on a snobby wine tour, but this is not that kind of tour.
Wine for Dudes make it fun and very relaxing for every one. Ash really knows about wine and even gave us a few tips on where to go surfing!

23 May 11 “A Guide with Passion for Wines & Region!"

Great day out, perfect group size with a very relaxed feel. Nice range of big-small wineries, all with great wines. John the guide kept it casual, yet very informative as he seemed to have a passion for not only the wines but the region too. Would recommend this for anyone, you won't be disappointed.

9 May 11 “Very Friendly & Totally Unpretentious!"

An excellent way to do a wine tour. We visited 4 wineries which was absolutely plenty - your tastebuds are shot after a day of drinking wine anyway! Blending our wine for lunch was fun, the meal was excellent, and we finished off the day with a visit to a boutique brewery - perfect. Great guides, a good value tour in a nice relaxed atmosphere. Whether you've never tasted wine before or have been supping for years, this tour is well worthwhile doing.

Had a great day with wine for dudes. Ash, our tour guide, was very informative but kept it fun and easy-going.
We learnt a lot about wine and we enjoyed our visits to the different winerys which were all only minutes from each other.
The trip to the chocolate factory and the brewery were a great addition to the tour.

We had a fantastic time on the Wine for Dudes tour. A great bunch of people, three good wineries, venison farm and choc factory. John was an excellent guide. He had a great knowledge of the area and its wines. He made it informative but fun. He also had lots of suggestions of other things to do and see while we were in Margaret River. We would highly recommend this tour and it was a highlight of our trip!

John was amazing, had lots of friends in the wineries which meant we all felt really welcome and relaxed, and lots of discounts! t The service was 5 star, even extending the tour shortly so we could visit one more brewery! Made our Honeymoon that little bit more fun and drunken!

7 March 11 “Fantastic wine, fantastic guide, fantastic humour!"

This has got to be the best wine tour I've been on. John was not only hilarious, he was also very knowledgeable, and made the usually snobby topic of wine tasting a really fun and enjoyable experience. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone, whether a wine buff or completely new to the world of wine!

I would recommend Wine for Dudes - what a great day.Our guide was relaxed friendly and very informative and made for such an enjoyable day We visited 2 wineries and a brewery at the end of the day. I have always avoided tours like this but after the Wine for Dudes tour I won't hesitate on going on another of their tours when I head south. Great value for money and unbeatable!

I've been on this tour twice now, with John & Ash as tour guides, both are very professional, knowledgeable and fun. The tour is really well organised and designed for who is on tour. The wineries, brewery etc we visited were excellent and the blending your own wine session really interesting. Plus they served a great picnic lunch at one of the wineries. They totally look after you from pick up to drop off. This is a great value tour I can highly recommend for all!

It was a great decision to go on the Wine for Dudes Tour.....the day was full of laughs, lush food and great wines. Wine for Dudes provided a relaxing but very informative approach to learning about wines and I even got to blend my own! I met some great people on our tour that I'm still in contact with and our whole tour group continued our fab day with dinner and drinks that night. Ash, our tour guide, was a really good guy who loved what he did which made the day that much better. Definitely recommended!

3  February 11 “Fantastic Day Out!"

I had a great day on the Wine for Dudes tour. I was picked up from my hostel front door for a day packed full of fun - tasting lots of wines, some cheese and even some chocolate. The lunch was delicious and fresh, and the company was great. We also learnt a bit at the same time - and this was tested in the mini quiz at the end where we could win some prizes! Fantastic!

2  February 11 “Brilliant Day!"
Posted by Alex Erskine from Winchester, UK

Had a fab day..going on the tour alone i was a bit dubious but John was a great guide, made us all at home, and the small group made for a very intimate and fun day, by the end it felt like I was exploring with friends, not on an 'organised tour'. Learnt a lot about the region and it's wine and tried a lot too! Tour was very flexible, we got to stay longer at a winery we liked and have input into the things we did ( 3 wineries, 2 breweries, vension farm, olive farm...busy day!), lunch was fab in an idyllic setting and the whole experience was so much fun. Thanks to John and a trip I would definitely recommend!

We will recommend this tour to all our mates and no doubt will go on this tour again !!! GREAT FUN!

We had an excellent day with Wine for Dudes. We were taken to very good vinyards and really enjoyed learning so much about and tasting so many different wines. We had a great welcome wherever we went and particularly enjoyed trying to blend our own wines. For the boys on the trip another highlight was going to the brewery! John is great company and very well informed!

Loved this trip. Our guide (Ash) knew his stuff and was pretty chilled about the way he explained everything. The tour was well organised. We went to 4 wineries, a cheese factory, a chocolate factory and a finished up at an awesome brewery. There were 11 on our trip and Ash did a great job of making sure that everyone had enough drinks to get on well. We all ended up back at the pub in town after the trip. Thanks Dudes!

30 December 10 “Fantastic Day!"
Posted by TheSaraRich from Jakarta, Indonesia
My husband and I recently went on a tour with this company and had an absolutely incredible time. Our tour guide, John, had everything planned perfectly. He picked us up around 11:30 in the morning, which was great for us. It gave us enough time to sleep in and have a leisurely breakfast before heading out for the day. John came straight to our hotel to pick us up, and within another 15 minutes we had collected our entire group of 11 for the day. John chatted here and there with the group on the way to the wineries, giving us enough information (and encouraging questions), but not inundating us with too much. We went to three great wineries, a chocolate factory, a cheese factory and a brewery. In the middle of it all, we had an absolutely wonderful meal prepared for us while we mixed our own wine. Overall it was a perfect wine tour for us. We learned a great deal about the region and the wines in the Margaret River area, we met some really fun people and we were back to our hotel in time for dinner. I would do this again in a heartbeat, and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves to drink wine!

6 September 10 “Great Service, Informative & A Lot of Fun!"
Posted by Kathy from Pincher Creek
My sister and I recently booked a tour with this company so we could taste wine and not worry about the driving, as well as learn more about the area. It turned out to be well worth it as we visited four wineries, a cheese factory and a brewery, as well as enjoyed a delicious lunch! Because it was a smaller group - about15 - we did not feel rushed and could ask questions at any time. I would highly recommend this tour company for a great day in Margaret River!!

This is an excellent wine tour, John has an excellent knowledge about all the wineries that he took us too. Lunch was great fun, plenty of food, and the fact that you got to mix your own wine was excellent. I have and will be recommending this trip to anyone who is thinking about taking a wine trip around Margaret River. Thanks for an excellent day!

We've been travelling for 10 months round the world and been on a few rubbish tours - this is NOT one of those! John was awesome, truly knowledgeable and interesting. making wine fun. I am sometimes a bit embarrassed by the little I know about wine, but having spent the day with Wine for dudes I now know a lot more! Thanks John.

6 June 10 “Informative relaxing and great fun"
Posted by UK Traveller 20 from Glasgow, UK
John was very relaxed and gave us lots of really good information without being a wine snob. We even got to mix our own blend - wonderful. I liked visiting the range of estates from small to large and of course the beers and chocs and olive oil - good combination. Would certainly recommend this tour highly (and it's good for all ages). The lunch on the lawn was beautiful. Overall fabulous.

16 April 10 “great day out in beautiful surroundings"
Posted by Damian & Jojo from Dublin, Ireland
Damo and I really enjoyed this trip. Diana picked us up from the hostel in the Dude-mobile and gave us a bit of background info on wine growing in Margaret River. She was really friendly & enthusiastic and told us they never do the same tour twice. We went to an awesome organic Vineyard called Peacetree (and spent ALOT of cash on beautiful wines) and to Olio Bello, a lovely olive oil farm with lots of sampling, along with 4 other vineyards. If you've visited any of the vineyards before let them know and they'll replace them on the agenda. The benefit of doing a tour with Wine for Dudes rather than going it alone (as we had done the day before) is that you get much more attention - especially as Diana knew many of the wine growers personally, had been to school with their kids etc. You get to taste some truely lovely wines and have a great lunch, plus no-one in your party has to drive (big bonus!!)

5 April 10 “meh....fun but not really"
Posted by Dominic Johnson 83 from Perth, Australia
My girlfriend and I decided to go on this tour on the Easter long weekend. We expected a messy day but it turned out to be quite tiring. We also expected it to be very relaxed when it came to wine culture.....only cause we wanted to drink more wine rather than taste wine..... Seriously......if u like wine tasting then do it... persornally i think wine tasting sucks and i was quite happy to forgo all the wine stops and just hit the brewerys..... im gonna give this tour a thumbs up because the dude that runs it (john) is a good bloke and is quite organised. this is a crap biased review...... however in short.........if u LOVE wine then go on the tour.......if you just wanna get wasted......hit the local pubs in margaret river instead.

18 Mar 10 “Fantastic fun day out"
Posted by FoggsUK from UK
We spent a month in Austrailis for our honeymoon (Nov 09) and Perth was our last stop. While there we visited Margaret River and booked the Wine for Dudes Tour (as a friend of ours recommended it). John the guide was very friendly and informative - even advised on places to stay, as we hadn't booked anywhere before leaving the UK. The vineyards we visited were great (especially liked the family atmosphere of Windance) and the olive/soap/chocolate factories & brewery were a great addition to a fantasatic trip. Especially liked mixing our own wine and enjoying it over a very pleasant picnic lunch. The brilliant service didn't end at the end of the day. When we got home John sent us a link to photos that he had taken on the day and forwarded us ones that we wanted to print out. This is really what I would call great customer service. Would recommend it to anyone who wants to find out more about wine in an informal, relaxed environment. A really fun day that we would certainly do again if we ever make it back to Oz. 9 Mar 10 “A great day with the dudes!!!”
Posted by Travelmate2000 from Germany
Simply the best wine tour I've ever been on. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, the scenery unique and beautiful. John the owner , a cheerful and friendly dude was our guide. He brings everyone together. It feels like being on a wine tour with a bunch of friends. He is very professional and knowledgeable about the area as well as the wineries and wines. It was a great mix of wineries, very diverse and interesting yet unpretentious, a lot of fun and will please the palette of the most serious wine afficianadoes. We even had the chance to blend our own wine, a tasty mix of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, that we enjoyed for lunch, a picnic in a beautiful vinyard setting. We also visited an olive oil factory where we could sample the fantastic olive oil and other goodies as well as the beauty products. And the visit at the chocolate factory was sweet. Both a nice breake before we continued on to taste a little more wine. After a great day of wineries we stopped at a local brewery for a few more laughs and a refreshing selection of local Aussi beer. A perfect ending for a perfect day! By the look of the others they were as satisfied as I was. The dudes had done their job. Spending a day with them should be an expirience for anyone visiting the Margaret River area.

19 Feb 10 "Catchy Title, Better Tour!"
Posted by Schugbear from Airlie Beach, Australia
As with most tours we have experienced, a guide can make or break the day. John, our guide, was knowledgeable, and engaged the group. It was a small and diverse group, we saw a good mix of vineyards, tasting some great wines. We also went to some local businesses including a chocolate factory, olive oil maker and brewery. It was a full day and great break from the beach.

17 Feb 10  "A way to taste what Margaret River has to offer"
Posted by Punkhead, from Grimshaw
This was a great way to spend the day and see the area. I was in Dunsborough at the time where Wine for Dudes don't do pick-ups, but John sent a taxi to pick up us up and didn't charge us anything. He was very helpful in more ways than just wine, he knew the area, knew the companies really well and really enjoyed chatting with us. We even had a quick cricket match after lunch. The wineries were very welcoming and enjoyed telling us about their wines. The chocolate factory was a nice desert touch as well. Olive oil tasting and taking a look at the soap factory was something unique and was very enjoyable. Probably one of the most interesting things was mixing the wines and then testing them out. Sensational tour, great guide, heaps of fun and lots of samples! Must do when in Margaret River!

Posted by James M from Sydney, Australia
We have been on a number of wine tours in countries across the world and this was one of the most relaxed and fun that we have been on. The service was great and we received friendly receptions at all of the wineries that we visited. It was my wife's birthday and John even bought a cake that was served whilst we were drinking the wine that we had mixed. The trip was also informative and provided an interesting overview of the wine region and wine making process.

My husband and I had a great time on the wine tour, everything was so good and the lunch was beautiful.  All the wineries that we went to the staff were all so friendly and made us welcome and we felt as if nothing was too much trouble.  Thank you for a very enjoyable 30th wedding anniversary that my husband and I will remember for a long time.

If you're wanting to do a Margaret River winery tour do it with Wine for Dudes. You won't be disappointed! John was so helpful, knowledgeable and he went out of his way to make sure we saw everything we wanted to see. He even drove around and found some kangaroos that our overseas guests could take photos of! From pick-up to drop-off he was really wonderful and we all have no hesitation in recommending Wine for Dudes to anyone looking for a great day out. Thanks John!

John was a very knowledgeable and fun host, our group was small which made for a more personal experience and you don't feel like your lost in the crowd. Fantastic mix of wineries, cheese factory and brewery for the all over Margaret River experience!. Would definately recommend to anyone who wants a "down to earth" tour.

29 May 09  Great day full of fun
Posted by Coxy1710 from ajax
A group of us met in Perth (6) and decided that we would go on an adventure to Margaret River on my last weekend before heading back to Canada. We decided that after hearing nothing but great things that we would go on the wine for dudes tour and experience all that it had to offer. After a long adventure getting there we had a great time. John is an awsome guy and we greatly appreciate all that he did for us. He definitely helped out our weekend. We all 100% recommend going on this tour as even though it was a horrible stormy day we all had a great time and couldnt ask for a better way to finally start our weekend away. Thanks :)

26 May 09  Wonderful way to spend a day, drink, eat and play!

This was a fantastic day out for any one who enjoys a wine or beer now and then. The fun relaxed atmosphere was great. All of the people on our tour were enjoying the informal unpretentious setting. After a brief talk by John (our driver) we sampled our first wines - something for each different palate was on offer. Lunch was a serve yourself picnic style buffet; with gourmet options! Accompanied by a glass of red mixed by each person to their own personal preference. After this we visited 2 more wineries, 2 micro-breweries, a chocolate factory and an olive farm (not in this order). On the bus on the trip back to town there was a 5 question quiz about things we had seen or heard on the day. I highly recommend this trip to any age group. We had a great time.

26 May 09  A Magaret River must!

An essential part of any trip to the Margaret River region is a tour with Wine for Dudes. A friendly atmosphere, very informative, put across in a down to earth way that makes you want to learn more. Lots of laughs and good craic with a young crowd. The wine blending is a lovely addition to the tour giving you a practical chance to see what goes on behind the scenes, after which the tour stops for an alfresco lunch which delicious food taking in the wonderful countryside. I enjoyed the experience so much I did it twice and John also took this into consideration mixing up the vineyards second time round, a brilliant day out that should be on everyone's itinerary.

2 May 09  Dad's 60th!
Posted by AussieNath
For my Dad's 60th I organised a wine tour through Wine For Dudes. It was all our family and alot of his friends, the age range was from 60 down to 20 and everyone had a great day especially the "dudes" as it wasn't all wines but ended with some beers.Shell drove us around but we met John, both have good personalities, you won't be disappointed...ah yeah, the wines were tops too. Thanks Shell.

2 Feb 09  It was a great day - well worth it!!

Thanks Shell for taking us ladies out for a truly wonderful hens day!! We loved the wine, the food and the company. It was a day for all of us to look back on with fun memories and great laughs. Shell, thanks so much for your hospitality. We had so much fun with you and you are a great guide. We will recommend you to others definitely, and yes it was so worth the money!

Best wine tour in Western Australia...actually in Australia, Posted by SydneyNinja
I've never been one for wine tours out of fear of people telling that they can taste the honeysuckel bouquet with undertones of fresh, earthy maple (wine...kers)....ruining my day by not letting me discover for myself what it tastes of and whether i like it or not. This was a great mix of learning about the wines and having a relaxing day with people who quickly become you friends. John has got a great mix of wineries on the Tour and a nice touch of being able to blend you own wine for lunch that he prepares for you. He makes it fun, which is what a wine tour should be and you come out learning as much as you want. Don't look any further than here!

Thank you so much, I had the most fabulous time! I have some awesome photos and even better memories!

15 Oct 08 A True Highlight!
Posted by Ozmac from Joondalup, Australia
Hi John, I’d like to thank you so much for an incredible day (hosted by Erin). The wine blending was something totally unexpected and an absolute highlight of the day. I have to say though that the unscheduled trip to Moss Brothers was absolutely fascinating and overall the most enjoyable winery of the day thanks to a very informative speech, the tasting straight from the barrel and the amazing quality and range of all their wines. Erin was great. We couldn’t have wished for a better guide. I’m full of questions and she was full of answers. However, whenever she didn’t know the answer she’d immediately found it via a phone call etc rather than guessing which would have been a lot easier. We both really appreciated this and have come away from the experience far more knowledgeable, not to mention more excited about wine. This is the first wine tour I’ve been on and the 2nd that my wife has been on. It fulfilled every expectation and more and I will certainly be recommending the tour to friends and family. Thank you very much. Jamie & Sarah Macfarlane (Cave’s House guests – tour date 11/10/08). PS – we’re now back at home in Joondalup and currently enjoying a bottle of Hay Shed Hill SSB!

4 Sep 08 John's a Dude!

What a day! Couldn't ask for a better day out with great company, tour guide - in the form of John (the Dude) and excellent itinerary. John's choices were without exception on the money and we had a thoroughly enjoyable day. We also followed his suggestions for dining out on days following the tour and again confirmed his incredible knowledge and great tips for fine dining and wine selection throughout the Margaret River region. We would have no hesitation in recommending "Wine Tour for Dudes" to anyone and all age groups wanting a day of total entertainment while tasting some of Margaret River's finest. Thank You Letter From Liz Houston, Executive Assistant, Norilsk Nickel Australia Pty Ltd, West Perth
I just wanted to send a quick note to thank you for the excellent day out for our wine tasting group last week. It was such a pleasure to deal with someone who was willing to be flexible with the schedule and where the only agenda appeared to be one of providing the customer with a great experience. From everything I have heard, everyone had a great time and really enjoyed the opportunity to do something a little different.

Congratulations Letter From Josie Hodgetts (& Roberto Trimboli), The WA Deaf Society, East Perth
We would like to congratulate Wine for Dudes for the whole package - prompt communications, friendly service, fun filled day, informative sessions and exceptional accessibility. We booked in for a group of 10 Deaf people for a birthday tour, Wine for Dudes were most accommodating and flexible in ensuring that access was provided for the participants. Notes were meticulously prepared and provided beforehand and copied for distribution on the day for everyone to read and fully participate in the wine tasting and blending sessions. Everyone had a ball and was most impressed with the provision of notes and the tour guide - Michelle, and her enthusiasm in mixing with the group, learning a sign or two along the way! We must also mention that the notes were comprehensive, not just brief and summarised information, but the whole lot - which was a major difference to us, as Deaf people and we certainly did appreciate the efforts made by Wine for Dudes. The birthday boy sure did enjoy the generous gesture made by Wine for Dudes, whereas he was delighted to have a yummy chocolate birthday cake and a birthday present! We will certainly recommend it to anyone who is visiting the Southwest and wanting to go on a winery tour, without hesitation.

20 Jun 08   Wine for Dudes is the Bomb!
Posted by Kel Bel from Beechboro, Australia
Wine for Dudes gave us (motley crew, plus Todd) a fantastic day out that made our Margaret River Wine Tour both interesting and fun, without being pretentious at all.  John does a great job of providing information and an experience that is just what X and Y Generation folk want from a day out such as this.
I would never consider any other winery tour company in Marg’s other than Wine for Dudes.  Watch out dudes!  Cos we WILL be back!!

20 Jun 08   Great day out in MR
Posted by Maxwell's Silver Hammer from Perth, Australia
Wine for Dudes was a great day's entertainment.  Being of the target gen x / y audience, we appreciated the relaxed look at wine but still knew that we were in knowledgeable hands and were trying some great wines.  Well run, John was a great guide (and even managed to make it to the WFD after party), thoroughly recommended.
Only downfall is now other wine tours (such as in Swan Valley) fail miserably in comparison!

16 Jun 08   Come party with Todd! And John!
Posted by Tarsh from Yokine, Australia

I've done a few wine tours (quite a few...) and this is by far my favourite.  No stuffy wine w*nkers here!  It was all fun and interesting and John was so flexible as well.  I've never felt so welcomed by the places we visited, they obviously have a lot of respect for John and his unique outlook on wine tours in the Margaret River region.
You know you had fun when almost everyone from the tour comes back to your house to keep partying!  We will absolutely without a doubt be booking on the tour next time we are down - you should too!

14 Nov 07   Awesome day out!!!
Posted by holmes182 from Gold Coast, Australia
The winefordudes tour was excellent. The relaxed approach to the tour was great. Our tour guide was great fun, easy to get along with and very flexible. There was a certain winery myself and my friends wanted to visit so he changed around a couple of stops and made it possible for us to go there.
Even if you're not a big wine drinker you will be guaranteed a great day out on this tour, we visited about 4 wineries (I think!), a cheese factory, a chocolate factory, and a brewery, lots of free samples!!!
If you wanna do a tour that's not full of senior citizens and pompous wine tasting toffs, this is the one for you!!!
I give it 5 gold stars!!!

4 Nov 07   A great day out!

31 Oct 07   The only way to see the Margaret River wineries...
Posted by steverea from Perth, Australia

I have been on the tour twice now and can't recommend it highly enough. John has a great knowledge of wines and you can tell he really enjoys doing the tours which makes the day fun and educational.
This is the tour for people who want to have fun while learning about wine and meeting great new friends. If you are looking for a less pretentious way to see the Margaret River wine region then look no further...

13 Jun 07   No better way to spend a day at Margaret River!
Posted by a TotalTraveller from Qwerty, Australia
We had a fantastic time on this tour - learned a lot, saw a lot, (drank a lot....) and simply enjoyed ourselves. With no need to worry about driving or which wineries to choose, this is definitely THE way to experience the Margaret River wine region.
It doesn't matter how much you know about wine, you're guaranteed to learn something while you enjoy the beautiful Margaret River wineries, the chocolate factory and a brewery, not to mention an excellent gourmet picnic lunch!  Enjoy!!
Response from Wine for Dudes
Wow! I guess that is why it is always a pleasure showing people around the 'gem of the South West', Margaret River. We are definately lucky to attract a funky younger crowd, out for a great day and you will definately get a hands on learning experience! Cheers... John

20 May 07   Cruise'n the coastline, drink'n wine & have'n a fun time!
Posted by a TotalTraveller from Sydney, Australia

Definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Margaret River!  A very relaxing & educational day out, learning a lot about the area & wines in an easy going & enjoyable way.  By lunch we were sniffing & swirling with the best of 'em & poured our new found knowledge into practice with the wine blending experience & enjoyed our creations over a gourmet picnic lunch.
The driver was great (good tunes!) & the crew quickly mixed well, it felt like we were all friends cruising the coastline, drinking wine & having a fun time!  Loved the day so much I booked again on my last trip!  Just as fun, informative with a different itinerary including a chocolate factory & a brewery!  The best of both a guys & a girls world!
Response from Wine for Dudes
"relaxing...enjoyable"...definitely the way the Margaret River (and wine) should be explored, thats what makes the job so fun!
